Immerse yourself into history and the arts this weekend.

Whether you're looking for a local art market, a historical walking food tour, a classical concert, a multicultural concert or a collage night, Lancaster County has several options ripe for exploring.

Here are five events to check out in Lancaster County this weekend.


Collage Art Night

Lancaster artist Shauna Yorty, who has painted several murals in Lancaster city, will host a collage night at the Susquehanna River Creative Conspiracy. The venue is a nonprofit studio space for artists to create art, record podcasts, stage photography and more. 

Yorty will provide the needed materials and guide the class on how to create art using paper clippings.

Martin Luther King Jr. Food Tour

Kendra Wolfe, head of tourism business Unique Lancaster Experiences, will guide people through several immigrant- and minority-run restaurants in Lancaster city and educate participants about Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy. She promises to have attendees leave feeling "well-fed and well-informed."

There is an additional food tour next Tuesday, Jan. 16, if you miss this weekend's tours.

Sopa Sol concert

Folk duo Sopa Sol will perform this weekend at the Leola United Methodist Church as part of the church's concert series, Maple & Main. The duo uses influences from their travels and experiences, including sounds from Kenya, Brazil and Haiti, as inspiration for their music.

'Bach & Glass'

The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra will debut "Bach & Glass" this weekend, featuring three performances that focus on piano works from composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Arnold Schoenberg and Philip Glass. There will be a free concert talk before each performance; be sure to arrive 45 minutes early to participate.

Switchboard Art Market
