The Lancaster-Lebanon League County Cross Country Coaches Association held its annual honors banquet last week at the Double Tree Resort in Lancaster.

Not surprisingly, the two L-L Runners of the Year were unanimous choices — Ella Wolfe of Hempfield and Colin Whitaker of Lampeter-Strasburg.

Whitaker, a University of Notre Dame commit, had a remarkable season. Early this fall, he ran the second-fastest time in Pennsylvania history, a 14:42 in the 5,000 meters during the Adidas Challenge. Whitaker followed that with a league championship, a District Three title, and a runner-up finish in the PIAA Class 2A championships. Whitaker’s silver is also the fourth medal he collected from the state meet.

Wolfe became one of the most decorated female cross country runners in Hempfield history. She cruised to league and district titles before ending her year as the fourth-best Class 3A runner at the state meet. The senior standout, who will head to the University of Arizona on a triathlon scholarship, won the USA Triathlon National Championship on Aug. 5, the youngest female to do so.

The L-L’s Courageous Runner award went to Conestoga Valley’s Carson Miller.

Here are the individual honors.
