I usually don’t express my opinion in regard to politics; however, my family talked me into writing this. I am 72 years old, and this is the first time I don’t really feel the need to vote. Why? I watched the recent Republican presidential debate and thought it was a circus.

Why can’t the candidates just stick to the questions and stop bad-mouthing the other candidates? None of the candidates could answer the questions without throwing another candidate under the bus. I really want to hear what each candidate has to say, but with everybody yelling at each other, it is impossible. Also, if a candidate goes over his or her time or bad-mouths another candidate, his or her microphone needs to be switched off — or maybe that candidate should be given a timeout by not being allowed to participate in the next round of questions. This may stop their acting like children, yelling and bad-mouthing other candidates. If they act this way now, what will they be like if they are the next president?

Former President Donald Trump (who hasn’t participated in this year’s GOP debates) acts like a spoiled child and if he doesn’t get elected, we will all be given a timeout for the next four years.

The other candidates need to either grow up and act like leaders or bow out. As for President Joe Biden, he should retire and become a full-time grandparent. I know some people will disagree with me, but at this point who really cares anymore?
