This post has been updated to reflect a new time for the menorah lighting on Friday, Dec. 8. 

This week, Jews across the world will start their celebration of Hanukkah, which begins in the evening of Thursday, Dec. 7, and continues through Friday, Dec. 15.

Locally, the Jewish Community Alliance of Lancaster will host public, nightly menorah lightings in Lancaster city's Penn Square. The schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, Dec. 7: 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 8: 4:30-5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 9: 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 10: 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Monday, Dec. 11: 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 12: 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 13: 5:30-6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec. 14: 5:30-6 p.m.
