After 10 years prowling the sidelines at Cedar Crest, Rob Wildasin has tendered his resignation as the Falcons’ football coach.

In those 10 seasons, Cedar Crest went 54-46 under Wildasin’s watch, including an 8-3 mark and a District Three Class 6A playoff trip in 2023.

“In 2014 I became the head football of the Cedar Crest Falcons,” Wildasin said via social media. “At that time, I believed that the program was not performing to its potential, and I felt strongly that if I could get the right people around the program, it could be competitive again.”

It certainly was. Hence the Falcons’ winning record over the last 10 years. Cedar Crest went to the District Three playoffs in 2015, 2017, 2019 and this past fall.

“Immediately I had great candidates reach out to me who were interested in becoming assistant coaches,” Wildasin continued. “For the next 10 years, with few departures and changes to the staff, we built a tough and respectable 6A program that went from a 27% winning percentage to a 54% winning percentage with four trips to the PIAA district playoffs.

“The staff that a I had the privilege of working beside was exemplary on and off the field as coaches and mentors to the outstanding student-athletes we were privileged to have as players,” he said.

Wildasin is the second Lebanon County coach to step down this offseason; Lebanon skipper Frank Isenberg stepped down late in 2023 after guiding the Cedars for the last four seasons. There have been three new coaching hires in Berks County: Nick Morrissey at Governor Mifflin, Rob Flowers at Muhlenberg and Dave Stahler at Berks Catholic.

Now, there’s a vacancy at Cedar Crest.

“It’s time for someone else to lead the team,” Wildasin said. “I am resigning (Friday) with tremendous pride in what was accomplished, and with the program in great shape for future seasons. The stage is set for someone to hit the ground running in 2024, and I will be the first to cheer on their success.”
