There are a select few Lancaster-Lebanon League teams still dancing in the PIAA playoffs, as the state baseball and softball tournament brackets were not kind to the local teams.
The postseason didn’t worked out as hoped for Hempfield’s baseball team, but the regular season was strong enough to place six Black Knights on the all-Lancaster-Lebanon League Section One team, as voted on by section coaches.
The Lancaster-Lebanon League baseball season ended Monday as Manheim Township, Warwick and Northern Lebanon took long road trips and lost first-round games in the PIAA state tournament.
Section Three of the Lancaster-Lebanon League wasn’t entirely power pitching this spring, but the three first-team pitchers on the all-section team - Manheim Central’s Jared Murray, Jackson Roberts of Octorara and Trent Dickson of Cocalico - combined for 176 strikeouts in 106 innings.
