Columbia police said a 16-year-old male was shot downtown on Monday night and are asking the public for assistance in their investigation. 

Officers were called to the 100 block of North Fourth Street at 11:58 p.m. and found a 16-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. 

Police said multiple shell casings were recovered nearby on the 300 block of Avenue G,  where they believe the shooting started. The teen victim is not cooperating with the investigation, police said. 

Investigators are seeking to obtain surveillance footage from the area and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Matt Leddy at 717-684-7735 or submit a tip on Columbia’s Crimewatch webpage.
